The next images evoke a range of distinct memories for me, both positive and negative. Shortly after their creation, I received a cancer diagnosis, leading to immediate hospitalization, surgery, and intensive chemotherapy spanning a challenging year, both mentally and physically taxing.

Following this difficult period, a rehabilitation phase ensued. During this time, I received an invitation from the esteemed ‘Pink Lady® Photography Awards,’ informing me that the image of the ‘Smoked Mackerel’ had been selected for the 2017 awards.

Soon after, I traveled to London for the award ceremony at ‘The Mall Galleries,’ where the ‘Smoked Mackerel’ was honored as the winner, securing the first prize in the ‘Cream Of The Crop’ category. After emerging from the dark period, this recognition served as a mental boost, infusing me with newfound energy!
