GERMINATING //
For the previous series of images, in 2017, I was experimenting with the germination of various ingredients. Eventually, dried beans and grains became part of the process. During this exploration, I developed a significant fascination for the germination process, leading me to decide on creating a separate series focused solely on dried beans and grains.
It’s fascinating to witness the transformation that occurs when you let these ingredients germinate and the evolution they undergo.
For this series, I created two images for each of the four featured ingredients. The first image captures the initial stages of germination, when the dormant embryo awakens. These are presented as intimate close-ups in warm sepia tones, emphasizing the subtle beginnings of life.
The second image, rendered in color, portrays the sprout in its evolved state, with roots extending in search of nourishment—a journey that ultimately marks the decline of the maternal seed.
